Al Kretz (F4C)

Al is 65 years old and has been building model planes since he was 10. At 13 he began flying 1/2A control line planes and started into r/c at the age of 30. Although he has built from kits, he prefers building from plans. However, if suitable plans aren’t available for his desired aircraft, he will create his own plans and build from them. The 2008 World Championships will mark the third World Championship contest that he has entered. The first was in South Africa in 1998 and the second was in Poland in 2004. Al also flies in numerous scale events in the U.S., e.g., The Mint Julep, the AMA Nationals, Scalemasters, and Top Gun and has placed well in them. Besides flying scale r/c, Al and his fiancée own two horses and enjoy trail riding in northern Alabama.
